Overview for Oryza sativa Indica (Asian rice Indica)

Asian rice (Oryza sativa), the most commonly grown rice species, contains two main subspecies: the sticky, short-grain (Oryza sativa Japonica) and the non-sticky, long-grain (Oryza sativa Indica) rice varieties. Oryza sativa Indica is grown mainly in hot climates of Southern Asia, while Oryza sativa Japonica is mainly grown in temperate climates such as Japan. It has a diploid genome of ~500 Mb. For Oryza sativa Indica, 37,878 genes and 4,340,785 SNPs are stored in agReg-SNPdb.

Distribution of rSNPs relative to the TSS

SNP distance to TSS asian rice indica
Distribution of SNPs around the TSS of asian rice indica. The upper plot shows the counts for the whole promoter region (-7.5 kb to +2.5 kb) in 500 bp intervals. The enlargement shows the proximal promoter region (-750 bp to +250 bp) in 50 bp intervals. The red asterisk annotates the position of the TSS.
