Overview for Helianthus annuus (Sunflower)

The domesticated sunflower (Helianthus annuus) is grown as a crop for its edible oil and fruits. Due to its yield stability under a wide range of environmental conditions, including drought, it is considered to be of great importance in terms of climate change adaptation. Its large diploid genome of 3.6 Gb in size contains many long and very similar repeats, making the assembly challenging and leading to many unmapped contigs. In agReg-SNPdb, we store 52,191 genes and 11,834 SNPs.
