A Database of Regulatory SNPs for Agricultural Species

We present agReg-SNPdb (agriculture regulatory SNP database), a database storing SNPs and their predicted impact on transcription factor (TF) binding in promoter regions.

Today, it is well known that SNPs in transcription factor binding sites (TFBSs) can dramatically affect the level of gene expression, since they can cause a change in binding affinity of TFs. Such SNPs are referred to as regulatory SNPs (rSNPs) which have gained attention in life sciences due to their causality for specific traits or diseases.

agReg-SNPdb comprises seven agriculturally important animal species - cattle, pig, chicken, sheep, horse, goat and dog - for which we identified a total of 10,623,512 rSNPs.

Check out the About page to learn more about the pipeline for the identification of rSNPs.

Check out the Search to find out what impact your SNP has on TF binding or which rSNPs are found in the promoter region of your gene.
